Situated as a landlocked nation, Kazakhstan’s trajectory towards heightened production for export necessitates a fortified transportation framework. The silver lining emerges in the form of a significantly evolved infrastructure that has taken shape over recent years

Fortified by steadfast affiliations with its parent entity, we enjoys unwavering access to a robust pipeline infrastructure. Among the pivotal conduits for the Company’s export endeavors, the UAS and CPC pipelines stand tall. Notably, Akzhol Petroleum holds the distinction of being the prime supplier to the Atyrau refinery, while Kazgermunai adeptly channels crude oil to China via the Kazakhstan-China pipeline.

Traditionally, the primary conduit for the Company’s production flowed through Russia, channeled through the 1,500 km Uzen-Atyrau-Samara (UAS) pipeline to Samara, a cornerstone export avenue. Since 2001, this journey has been augmented by the Caspian Pipeline Consortium’s (CPC) 1,510 km pipeline, charting a course to the Russian hub of Novorossiysk on the Black Sea. This shift embodies a more lucrative trajectory for the Company, underscoring our endeavors to bolster the proportion of exports through CPC.

The Atasu-Alashankou pipeline, spanning a traversable distance of 1,000 km between Kazakhstan and China, emerged into operational realms in December 2005. Forecasted to witness a doubling in capacity over the forthcoming years, its current potency is pegged at 10 million tonnes p.a. (200 kbopd). Pioneering aspirations continue to explore other promising pipeline routes emanating from Kazakhstan.

A milestone etched in July 2006 marked the debut of an alternative course: the inaugural direct pipeline facilitating a prolific link between the Caspian and the Mediterranean Sea. Foreseeing a projected capacity of 50 million tonnes (1,000 kbopd), the Baku-Tbilisi-Ceyhan pipeline charts a remarkable course, embarking from Baku in Azerbaijan and culminating at the Turkish port of Ceyhan. This pathway, materialized in July 2006, stands poised as a prospective alternative channel for Kazakhstan’s oil ambitions.

These instances underscore a pivotal facet: while Kazakhstan finds itself interlinked with neighboring nations for outbound oil shipments, the country revels in an expanding, multifaceted spectrum of access to the global export market. Fueled by steadfast ties with our parent enterprise, We is assured of seamless entry to the oil transport infrastructure overseen by NC KMG.

The chronicles of 2016 bear testament to Our prowess in exporting a remarkable 59% of the crude oil hailing from its core assets, namely UMG and EMG. An illustrative breakdown unveils that during this timeline, 26% of the Company’s (UMG and EMG) crude oil transactions embarked on the CPC pipeline journey, while an additional 33% embarked upon the trajectory paved by the UAS pipeline.
